If you are considering speed cushions for your road, please bear in mind the consequences experienced by those of us who already have them and endure the problems cause by them to our homes and well-being.
I’m not against slowing down moronic speeding motorist but I am against speed cushions, not because of car damage but because of the damage they cause to houses due to the shuddering, shaking and vibration effect every time a vehicle passes over.
Its all very well taking into consideration speed cushions may slow down some traffic but the main offenders who cause the majority of the shuddering shaking & vibration are vehicles such as buses, vans, lorries, coaches, 4x4’s, people carriers etc who do go fast and to which the speed cushions cannot slow down.
The problem I thnk is Councils needs to be seen to be doing something to keep some residents happy so they install speed cushions at the cost of other residents like me (and my neighbours) who live beside them.
We do not have the funds for the official research needed to prove to Councils the damage being caused to our houses by speed cushions nor do we have the funds to fight Councils to remove them from outside our homes.
I would suggest you do your own research as to what damage they will incur to your homes before agreeing for them to be installed in your road.
I along with my neighbours would welcome speed cameras instead of speed cushions in the road we live.  Speed cameras do slow down ALL vehicles and do not damage houses or cars. They catch speeders, are self funding and do not need police presence, nor do they damage road surfaces.
