at peak times the planes come over about every 50 seconds, which means the noise from the next plane is coming into earshot just as the previous one is fading so I find conversation has to stop for about 10 or 15 seconds for many flights (depending on the type of plane and the weather conditions). Curiously some of the medium sized planes are noisier than the really big planes, I guess it depends on the engine type, age, etc. Surely the best way to reduce plane noise is to ban the noisiest planes from landing at LHR? |
