I think you have got to the nub of it - trees/plants fix CO2 and we need more of them. But they don't have to be in a place where there are already too many claims on the space. Put them on everyone's roof by all means - not in everyone's way in the High St! As regards SO2 (and to be fair, most SO2 is coming from power generation, not from transport) levels in Europe have come down about 75% in the last 120 years or so and that has been in line with stated targets to reduce them. To use the adjective "acceptable" for that though is perhaps stretching its meaning. |
