Thanks for your work David; much appreciated. In fact, in view of the inertia of those who should be doing this, thanks to all who have participated in this exercise. The negative comments seem to come from those with specific self interest. You have certainly laid down the challenge to the GLA and WBC to get their act together. Your proposal is a good foundation for further development; in particular additional greening to help mitigate the air quality problem. (If the Exchange want something really eye catching and of tangible benefit, they should be considering a green facade.) Accurate survey information (physical and footfall) is the next step to ensure that alignments will work and spaces can be allocated appropriately. This will also present a good opportunity to rationalise the buried utilities, LED lighting etc. Proposals for similar streetscapes are proposed or being constructed elsewhere in London so why not here? I know the useage isn't comparable but the conversion of Old York Road in Wandsworth has been success. |
