Lucille and Martine, West end, East end, Southend or the other End, where you choose to shop is entirely your decision...for myself I think that Kingston offers: Copious and affordable parking (with no time constraints) along with fantastic shopping. Richmond offers ish the same shopping but perhaps not quite the same parking facilities (but still better than than Putney...with no time constraints courtesy of NCP). Granted Putney does offer good food shopping via Waitrose and Sainsburys but if I wanted to spend a day in Putney pre Christmas and do a big Shop for gifts and throw in a spot of lunch I have two choices: Queue to get into Exchange carpark @ circa £2ph, or park on meter @ £2.80ph with a 4hr limit..."sorry Mrs K we can't have coffee as we have to get back to the car"... Actually none of this would matter if PHS was the bastion of Haute Couture shopping. But to have the bloody cheek to offer the crappiest/most polluted High Street along with exorbitantly priced/woefully limited/time constrained parking and in return offer: Poundland, Agora, McDonalds, KFC, Cashino, umpteen opticians, hairdressers, trillions of Estate Agents and coffee shops...what a pile of poo! Does Putney Society/Dave Irwin seriously think that their "vision" will somehow miraculously transform PHS to be a contender for Kingston, Richmond, High st Ken, West End etc? Guys, we can all envisage grandiose plans but fact remains: No quality shops along with no sensible parking...forget it! |
