In my view, it has nothing to do with weather or season of the year. Bill, you mention Barnes and Southfields as examples. And you have highlighted the key problem. Unlike Barnes and Southfields, PHS lost its character sometime ago and that to me is the problem. I would love to know how to bring PHS into a welcoming village shopping area. We have the bakeries, the coffee shops, the charity shops, clothes shops, supermarkets, opticians, the estate agents, the dreaded gambling shops, but what I think is missing is the community spirit of a village shopping area. This is my idea only. But if we go into a shop and find that the service is unhelpful, uninterested, aloof, we should say so in the hope this would change. Feeling you are unwelcome in a shop will by definition, put you off going there again. Thank you. |
