| I know what you mean Lara about "villagey" fairs as opposed to "Funfairs" like the one on the common recently. Barnes Fair, which is on Sat 10th July this year, is a wonderful village-type fair which I always enjoy. Don't miss it. I also used to enjoy Funfairs but am getting a bit past it now. Every year since I came to live in Putney there has been a Funfair on the common, and every second year there was the Borough Show organised by the Council which was good fun but now no longer happens - I suppose it got too expensive. I too saw lots pf people, families, young people and so on streaming up to the Funfair. They did not look 'dodgy' to me but perhaps 'dodginess' is in the eye of the beholder. |
