| The commissioners don't consult local people Mia (except when elections occur); whether it's disruption caused by a fun fair on Putney Lower Common or a political jamboree for thousands on Wimbledon Common. Their priority does appear to be centred on raising revenue rather than looking after the interests of those who pay the bills. They seem to be ineffective, incompetent or unable to ensure what we may reasonably expect of them in this case. These pillars of society were also responsible, at least in part, for administration during the interminable delay (years) and the waste of huge sums of public money (£M) over establishing right of access to the Putney Hospital site. The notion that they are providing a valuable public service probably seems as remote to you as it does to me right now. |
