| No I believe we need a separate body e.g. W&P Conservators other than the Council to be responsible for Putney & Wimbledon Commons. Due to the nature of a Council having to meet annual targets\budgets a conflict of interest and the opportunity of a quick profit would be too much. You can keep a park but lose a common. I can appreciate how annoying it must be however for the Council when the Conservators allow users of Putney Common access and the associated traffic distruption. Things are not brilliant but I personally can elect who I want on the Board - additionally I have 2 Government elected members on the Board which adds to impartiality. |
