| Nick, there are three sites currently. The one in PHS itself is the large green box outside Vodafone. There's another one half way up the Vodafone building (actually just a pair of small diffusion tubes outside a first floor window). The third is in Felsham Rd at the corner of Weimar St. This one measures background levels and hence is deliberately set away from the traffic. We are told there is guaranteed funding to continue monitoring for the rest of 2013 and that the council is urgently seeking funds for 2014. They have also been conducting a further monitoring exercise on PHS, combining analysis of vehicle emissions with use of ANPR cameras so that pollution contribution by vehicle type can be established. They did this in 2011 for a week and discovered amongst other things that 67% of the NO2 was coming from buses - a great help to us in our campaign to improve air quality in PHS. |
