I do not think that one day a year should be condemned. I am also disabled and we decided that this weekend was for staying put. But what I agree with is that the information on road closures was not that clear nor easily accessible. We live on Medfield Street and the traffic chaos was monumental!!! Exacerbated by a cyclist colliding with a pedestrian on Roehampton Lane. The ambulances could not get there, and the Lane was closed from the Red Rover to Priory Lane. On occasions like these, I believe consideration for emergencies should also be at the top of the list. My suggestions? Advertise the event NATIONALLY, provide actual maps (not listing of roads) clearly highlighting the road closures and the alternative routes. This, at every point of diverted traffic. Most of the people stuck on Medfield Street were coming back from holiday and using the South Circular.... I also agree with Lucille that the closure of 11 bridges was uncalled for. |
