Roland To add more detail to Simon's clarification. There is no such thing as Road Tax. There hasn't been since 1937. Roads are paid for out of general taxation. You may be talking about Vehicle Excise Duty, which is just one of the many taxes that help pay for roads, but that is based on carbon emissions/engine size, so owners of small cars don't pay it either (neither do the police or disabled drivers).
