The following information was printed in the local press on 4 December 2008 and obtained under the Freedom of Information Act. "Wandsworth Councillors are taking home more than one million a year in pay and allowances, despite warnings of service cuts after the government awarded below-inflation funding last week. Council leader, Edward Lister, gets 49,000 pnds a year, making him one of the highest paid in London, while councillors receive 10,211 pounds, a Freedom of Information request has shown." Yes it's a pity we have to find out this type of info. using the FOI, but it does not appear to be information that is withheld. I do hope that the 2 MP's who carried on claiming for mortgages that were paid off, are prosecuted. My view of some of those working in the public sector, such as MP's and Council executives, is that they have an over inflated opinion of their own worth |
