We found the whole thing a big problem in that we never knew who had been to visit ie which agency they were from. When there was some sort of an injury being dressed it was OK because we asked and found out that the District Nurse was coming out once a week but there were at least 10 different people called the District Nurse.  There was no paperwork left for us.  When we were taking it in turns to be there all the time the 15 min that we nipped out for was bound to be the time that someone came and the questions and messages would remain unasked and unanswered.

This was all made worse by the fact that what happens in one part of the country does not seem to be the same as happens in another part.  We learnt from our very first disastrous experience that we needed to check whether the District Nurse system had been primed of a hospital discharge.

FIL actually only lasted a couple of weeks in the care home before he went into hospital.  It seemed that as soon as any one was ill in the care home the ambulance was called.

I think yesterday I heard someone say that nurses shouldn't need degrees.  I suspect he doesn't know the difference between trained and registered nurses and Health Care Assistants. There are more HCAs than nurses.
