Thank you Andy and Phillipa for replying.  I think this subject has to be discussed because it is effecting so many families.

People that I know, who are facing Care bills, aren’t objecting towards paying towards care, but it is the cost.  In London you are looking at £1000 per week minimum for a decent carehome.  I listened to a radio phone-in where someone’s relative was paying £80,000 per year

I know of one desperate case where an adult faces having to leave their home of several decades as the home will have to be sold to pay for their parent’s care.  I do not want to go into further detail, but it seems terribly unfair to me.

I think a lot of people do not realise how serious this will be for their family, until the crisis hits them they have no idea.
