Michael, if you go into hospital and you are in for more than 28 days then the Attendance Allowance stops.  I guess it is also stopped if a local authority is paying for a person’s care and rightly so. I think there is a lot of confusing information out there.  Perhaps when people start to pick up the State Pension, information leaflets should be sent out on paying for care, who qualifies for funding and who doesn’t and what benefits will stop/continue.  At some point, perhaps when the Attendance Allowance is applied for, a leaflet should go out for adult children living with parents that the age at which the family h9me is disregarded for care charges is 60.
