Robert, check your facts and what I wrote. I was referring to scientific research - bodies such as ESA and CERN - which are not EU organisations - and the UK is still a member of, as are other countries such as Canada. It may not happen but it's an opportunity that could be grasped and, no, the EU can't rival China, but I got a reaction! Not entirely my ideas but something I discussed a a weekend conference with some technologists including so who work/have worked at CERN, ESA, etc. Yes, of course, it may not happen, but my US contacts don't seem too impressed with Trump's approach to research, particularly with regard to  health. (Now two deaths in the Texas measles outbreak, although JFK jnr is rolling back a bit on his MMR antivax misinformation.) What do your contacts in the science field and US say?
