China is seen as the main economic threat -  it could be political that it appears first who knows??

We do not know the precise details of what figures/time that have used.

The ordering does seem to broadly follow trade imbalances which is Trump's target to address - so I wouldn't say they are random.

What is clear is that the US is attracting huge investment from manufacturing.

This of course has been going on for some time with German companies fleeing high energy costs and relocating to China & the US.

I guess the UK could always put tariffs on US gas imports??

Out of the frying pan into the fire it would seem.
