Steven. I think I'd agree with you that average speed checks make more sense but they're a more recent technical innovation so not so common,  so static cameras are a fact of life.

I suppose the argument for a blanket lowering to 20 moh along Roehampton Lane is that the road is shared with cyclists who are likely to be damaged less if hit at 20 rather than 30 mph?

There's also the question of the complaint by some that they lose track of changes between 30 and 20 mph limits (driving without due care and attention?) so a blanket 20 mph limit should be easier to comply with?
