Hello Richard,

I find your post really laughable if not ridiculous.

Of course 20mph is a speed limit (target?????).  Whether you drive at 18mph or 20mph, the speed is not that easy to maintain particularly if you are going downhill.  I seem to remember somebody else on the Forum saying they struggled to maintain the car at 20mph in Richmond Park.  I assume he was referring to some of the hills you come down.  No, it is not  strange that the 20mph limit is difficult to maintain.

However, if my road is anything to go by, the 20mph is not respected in the least - speeds above 30mph are a constant. 

And yes, I keep an eye on the speedometer (not glued to it) because it is very easy to go up to 22mph which some cameras consider it criminal while the police only consider speeds of 25mph and above.  A contradiction somewhere? 

The reason for finding the stately speed of 20mph difficult to maintain is because it is an difficult speed to maintain.  On 30mph roads, as we had before, driving at 25mph was very easy!  I wonder why?
