I don’t think it is virtue signalling to point out the contradiction between  handing over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius in order to ‘decolonise’ while ignoring the wishes of the colonised people, the native Chagossians. While I have not listened to Philippe Sands’ lecture on international law, I listened to him at some length on the radio trying to defend the government’s deal with Mauritius when he failed to mention the rights of the inhabitants.
