For the last few years I have been part of the local branch of a national club that had met at the Telegraph every month for many years. Each month when I have been at the pub there seemed to be few empty tables both inside and out, so I was very surprised when I turned up for January's meeting to find that the Telegraph had closed. For nearly 50 years I've known the Telegraph, been to wedding receptions, birthday parties and have often dropped in for lunch because you can park outside. I remember at one time some years ago it went 'dark' before reopening again as a pub some months later, so I still live in hope that it will return to us in some viable form. I guess one of the problems of the Telegraph is that it's almost impossible to get to by public transport, especially in the evenings and on Sundays!! Are people on this forum aware that there is a War Memorial attached to the wall of the Telegraph? I just hope that the memorial doesn't get 'lost'!! |
