Thank you Jonathon, but I have to say the amount of energy expended on national and international matters on this forum is not matched by local efforts to protect historic sites, regardless of how many people comment on a forum which seems to have fewer and fewer readers, if the numbers shown are correct. It is called the Putney Society for a reason, and should be far more pro-active in local matters such as this. But for Mr Thompson, we would not have known about this at all. I have already applied for a listing, and agree that it takes time but if granted, can slow down or even impede the planning process. I didn't stop Elliott School being redeveloped, but that was a much larger, more commercially viable site. I had hoped that my request would be backed by the local amenity group, and I'm afraid that waiting until September is simply too little, too late. I agree with Caroline, that the pub was well used, particularly by dog-walkers, and was always busy when I visited. I am grateful to Caroline for brining this to your attention, but time is of the essence here, so why can't the head honchos at the PS just get online and ask for the site to be listed. Do you believe that any of your colleagues would object to such an application? I'm sure those who did not vote for John Cameron at the last WPCC election may regret doing so now. We need action, not words and opinions. |
