The adjacent Wildcroft Manor apartments will have a residents association and so on, so they could submit a bid without difficulty. The fact that they have not, nor has anyone else it telling, it suggests to me that there is little interest from the community in terms of protecting the pub from being 'lost'. I was partially involved in the successful applications to list Wandsworth Park as an ACV and the Sea Scout hut on the Embankment, (which Wandsworth wanted to kick the scouts out of). The latter was the first successful application to Richmond Council. The difference with those two bids is that the bidders had a very real interest in their application with "skin in the game". Getting 21 random names for a bid may be successful, but the problem will be later down the line. There is little point in making a successful bid unless the bidding party are prepared to follow through in a meaningful way. If they are not, why bother? The party who started this thread may wish to comment on who the residents were who attended the initial meeting, and their enthusiasm to see the pub as a community business. It is entirely possible, but would need some serious effort to see it through. 21 random names won't do that. https://plunkett.co.uk/more-than-a-pub/ https://pubs.camra.org.uk/viewnode.php?id=64681 https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2019/01/23/Community-pubs-are-thriving-according-to-new-research https://www.powertochange.org.uk/get-support/programmes/community-pubs-support-programme/ |
