Looking at the announcement on the DfE website (http://www.education.gov.uk/news/news/bsf-review, with the table showing the detailed impact downloadable from http://www.education.gov.uk/news/news/~/media/Files/lacuna/news/bsf/BSFLAwidelistofSchools060710v2.ashx), the plans for Wandsworth secondary schools are extremely depressing: in all, 14 (fourteen!) schools have had their rebuilding stopped: they are Battersea Park, Bradstow, Chestnut Grove, Elliott, Ernest Bevin, Francis Barber, Garratt Park, Graveney, Linden Lodge, Nightingale, Oak Lodge, Paddock, Saint John Bosco and St Cecilia. In addition, Burntwood and Southfields are listed as “Sample – for discussion,” whatever that means.
How nice to see our new government investing in the future like this! How many of us, fools that we were, would still have voted Lib Dem if we'd thought that this was what the new politics would bring? |
