| Thanks David. Torrington needs to brush up on her grammar, and then ask someone in the office to be her proof reader! Re: Planning Application 2017/2707 Copied below is part of a communication received from FoWP: "Planning Application (2017/2707) has been made seeking change of use for the gated river walk in the NW corner of the park from public space to private dwelling to enable the extension of the gardens abutting it down to the river, subject to a potentially long lease agreement with the Council. This river walk area has been closed off from public use for a few years now because of alleged anti-social behaviour and the inability of the council to properly manage it. FoWP have been trying to utilise this space for several years since our formation for a number of options, from an educational centre to a community garden, along with many other creative and productive ideas which would include management and oversight of the area by the community so that anti-social behaviour would not be possible. We have made no progress with the council for reasons we did not understand, but having now just learned that this lease idea was actually approved in principle over two years ago without our knowledge, may be the reason." With one Wandsworth councillor, or possibly two living in Deodar Road it makes one wonder if they have any vested interest in the acquisition of a sustantial piece of this valuable community asset? Wandsworth Park is for the benefit of the whole community and chunks of it must not be leased off to a few wealthy, greedy individuals. If you agree please support the FoWP, and oppose this application. |
