That is a fair point Martine and I hope you get a good enough answer from them. I can certainly confirm that at least half of the clients are dogs, I think there has been an increase even from when I first knew the hospital about 6 or 7 years ago. I can only speculate as to why, maybe dogs have genuinely overtaken cats as the most popular pets, excessive breeding, maybe for some reason people on benefits or low income are more likely own a dog or maybe more people are finding themselves on low income or benefits due to these harder financial times. I would be interested to hear other people's theories on this and I do wonder if private practices have seen an increase also. |
