Lucille, I lived in East Putney for 16 years and when I moved to West Putney I could not believe the dog mess and the fact lorries were collecting carcasses in a residential street at 3.00 am and I mean in the street not on the premises. The dog fouling remains the same and many people complained about it when we were canvassing with the petition. Who decides if there is a problem - the dog control officers? Anyway the residents are never believed by the Council on this matter. All these years on and one thing has changed and that is the nature of the dogs. Yesterday, I was talking to a local parent who said they avoid the road because the dogs are so frightening. It is not the first and it won't be the last time that I am told this. Who would have thought that part of the pavement in the middle of Thamesfield was a no go area for some of the residents? The Council dismissed "just like that" the largest neighbourhood petition that has probably ever been seen in Thamesfield. It is we that have had to ask for a meeting with council officers. Let us see if they listen before we have a major incident in the street. Thanks for the kind words, Lucille. |
