Sue, here I am on cue! LOL Raifa you make a very good post. You rightly say that the treatment is not free which leads me to another recent incident. The owner of a staffordshire bull terrier was causing a commotion on the carpark, he was arguing with the hospital staff and the police had to be called. As the dispute could be heard way out on the street, it was not difficult to hear what was being said. The man had said he could not afford to make a donation. He kept saying over and over that he hadn't got any money. I don't know whether his dog received treatment or not. As regards more control over where people stand, yes we want the pavements kept clear, they are narrow on the southside and if you have a buggy/wheelchair the northside is far easier to negotiate, but the pavement is often obstructed by dogs and owners. Is is too much to ask to have the pavement kept clear for pedestrians? Noisy dogs, dogs that have problems socialising with other dogs, dogs accompanied by owners who smoke, seem to be the clients that wait outside, frequently on the pavement. I should have added that the dog that attacked the woman on the street last week, bit her on the forearm, just about at height of a child's head or a baby in a buggy. We are shortly to meet with staff from Wandsworth Council, residents are coming from Clarendon Drive, Gamlen Road and Hotham Road. Our numbers are restricted by the Council. If you ask me Wandsworth Council are in denial about the problem because this is the RSPCA. |
