| Richard, I fail to understand the point you are making. The first part of the definition you quote says that genocide is any act calculated to destroy in whole or in part a national, racial or religious group. The second part says that genocide also includes deliberately inflicting conditions calculated to bring about the destruction in whole or in part of such groups. Israel is guilty of neither. Israel has no plan to exterminate the population of Gaza, either by bombing them ( since it gives civilians warnings of impending attacks) or starving them to death ( since it distributes food through the GHF and has today announced a pause in fighting in certain areas to allow other humanitarian agencies to provide food). The accusation of genocide is a hysterical and, I believe, anti-Semitic accusation which has no basis in fact. Israel is prosecuting a war against a large and well armed terrorist army who shield behind the civilian population, who refuse to surrender in the hope that pressure from Western countries will give them final victory and who have still not released their hostages. |
