| Michael, I think you need to make up your mind about whether you are prepared to discuss the issue of Israel with me or not. It is not very brave to say you will no longer be engaging in debate with me and then make a sarcastic (and superficial) comment about my views. Just to make my position clear, I don’t think that the war crimes and discrimination committed by China, Sudan, Russia and Myanmar excuse Israel’s conduct in the least.A war crime, if proved, is a war crime, no matter which country commits it, regardless of what other countries are doing or not doing.. But the obsessive criticism of Israel and apparent lack of interest in these other countries says a lot about some of the people on the Forum, including yourself (though you are by no means the worst offender). Ivonne, I may not agree with your views on Gaza, but at least you are prepared to address points made by others on the Forum. This contrasts with the attitude of those who treat the Forum as an opportunity to advertise their opinions rather than exchange views, often by quoting selectively from sources which support their position while ignoring contradictory evidence entirely. And by the way, I didn’t say that Gerry Boyce had ‘lost it’. My complaint was that having said that there are two views on the issue of starvation in Gaza, which seemed admirably impartial, he then asserted that there is only one correct view. |
