I have posted my argument for what it is worth earlier.

And that is, putting aside all of your cod management speak, any sensible politician let alone the Prime Minister would have left Mandelson well alone and not even considered him as worthy of the position of Number 10 Cat Litter Manager let alone that of Ambassador to our most important ally.

What made Mandelson special in Labour's eyes for him to be given this role ?

The issue is one of political judgement at the top of our Government.

Starmer has little, but as I have also posted he is not the cause of Labour's decline at the hands of Reform.

This is caused by the electorate's fear of the Party's policies on illegal immigration (ineffectual in stopping it), a burdening welfare state (benefiting very often the workshy and immigrant at the expense of the indigenous British taxpayer) and an economy that is now suffering from what is described as stagflation (no growth and rising prices).

What's your counter to this ?
