Mr Ixer I have never seen any statement made about what the objectives of these marches are. To me they look like a very one sided and aggressive expression of support for one side in the conflict and hostility towards the other. What do they want the UK government to do ? Everyone wants peace in the region and the end to the killing of people on both sides of the conflict. But how do these marches in the UK improve the chances of such ? After all, we are not providing any troops or arms to be used in the conflict, which let's face it is 'a game in which we have no skin'. All we can be accused of is not withdrawing our support for Israel's right to exist and maintain its status as an independent state. And if these marchers are protesting against the killing of innocent children, have there been many banners and slogans that condemn the atrocities of 7th October 2023 perpetrated against children and their mothers from Jewish families ? I find your attempt to conflate the Israel/Arab and Ukraine/Russian conflicts a little naïve. The UK is helping the Ukraine with arms and money to stop it being invaded and overwhelmed by a Russian unelected dictatorship. It is only providing Israel, which has already been invaded by the unelected Hamas terrorist group, with moral support so that it does not suffer the same fate. It is unlikely to change this stance until the Palestinians accept the right of Israel to exist. |
