Rosslyn Park rugby club founded in 1879 is a non profit making organisation. It is one of the largest community sports providers in Wandsworth. The advertising boards were a neccessity to help pay the debt for the new artificial pitch. The pitch can now be used for 50 hours a week as opposed to 4-5 hours when it was originally grass based. Between 800-900 kids are playing rugby on Sunday. Universities and schools also enjoy the facilities. The club also provides facilities for a number of local charities including under privileged children from the Alton Estate. Other sports are played on this pitch including, football, American Fooball and cricket amongst others. The planning stage for the advertising boards was undertaken over a 2-3 year period. The lights are switched off between 11 p.m to 6 a.m in the morning. The actual avertising displays do not face any housing. I welcome you to join me for a wonderful afternoon of rugby there at the next home game on Saturday 5th December where where you will see everyone having a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon whilst the kids play behind the pitch instead of sitting at home on their IPADs. |
