It is clear that Andy Burnham is a liar, a hypocrite and a fraud. He lied to the voters of Makerfield by pretending that he had no wish to revisit Brexit. In his election material he hypocritically professed a desire to strengthen our democracy, which he said would be undermined by any failure to respect the result of the Referendum, yet in contradiction to the democratic will of the British people he has now proposed to include freedom of movement and membership of the single market among  Labour’s manifesto commitments. And of course if the UK were to rejoin the single market, it would effectively be back in the EU. There would be no point in opting to remain outside the formal structure of the EU while remaining subject to its rules. So Burnham’s proposal of a second referendum on full membership is entirely fraudulent.

But I fear that disappointed Remainers are  not interested in questions of honesty or democracy. All they want is to to reverse the result of the  Referendum and they are happy to justify any means of achieving this, however improper.
