Jonathan, for someone who has frequently joined his voice to those who have complained about toxic contributions to the Forum, you are actually quite rude. I don’t read the ‘Daily Express’ and I don’t in any case form my opinions on the basis of newspapers editorials, whether of the right or the left.

Burnham’s latest move is a betrayal in two ways. Firstly it is a betrayal of the British public who were told that their vote in the Referendum would be binding. You don’t have to take my word on this. You can take the word of Andy Burnham himself who told the voters of Makerfield that failing to respect the result of the Referendum would ‘undermine democracy’. It is also a betrayal of the electorate of Makerfield to whom he lied in order to win the seat. The accusation of betrayal in this case is not an ‘emotional’ or an exaggerated response. It exactly describes the action of someone who considers breaking a covenant with the British people and who reneges on a personal commitment to his prospective constituents.
