| The quote you give seems to be a very clumsy attempt at obfuscation. Given all the other factors affecting response time, it is very difficult to isolate the direct impact of the Hammersmith Bridge closure. However, the very fact that it was necessary to change the fire station to one further away means that response times will have been increased by this factor. The emergency services seem always to be very careful not to get sucked into rows about changes to the road network of any kind because they know how divisive these issues have become and tend to give non-committal replies during any consultation. However, talk to paramedic working in the area, as I have done, and they will tell you unambiguously that they are getting to calls more slowly in the aread due to Hammersmith Bridge being shut. |
