Transport for London and Hounslow are doing a feasibility study of a walkers bridge under the North side of Barnes Bridge. One of the main problems of cyclists on the pavement by the river is that they have cycled over the bridge on the pavement-on the bridge the pavement is wider. The reason that many cycle on the pavement over the bridge is that they are frightened of the turning traffic. We are of course discussing ,as we always are when we are talking of cyclists and pedestrians sharing-whether legal or no-finite resourse, increased demand and everyone knowing their rights. As a cyclist who jumps lights, goes down one way streets-causing in both cases no danger to anyone- I would like to add that one of the biggest dangers on the road are pedestrians who jump out into the road without care or reason. |
