I made the point about wheeling my bike making me wider because I always feel guilty taking up extra space in narrow lanes like these fenced roadworks - hence I tend to avoid altogether and use the diversion! Yes, totally agree, one lane of traffic only at all 'arms' of this junction would make it much safer, rather than having everyone jockey for position as they go through the lights. The redesign of URR west of the Red Rover junction at Barnes/Roehampton Lane is the perfect illustration of this - since they made this stretch into one car lane and one wide cycle lane only, instead of wide enough for two cars and to hell with cyclists, it's become so much safer to ride through on a bike. |
