This is because the riverside path between St Mary's Church and the Embankment is the Thames Path national cycle route, but there is no easy way for cyclists to cross this junction outside the church - they are left stranded in a junction with 4 lanes of traffic. It's no wonder that many of them, especially groups cycling together, families or younger riders out on their own choose to use the pedestrian crossing and narrow pavement. Wandsworth Cycling Campaign have been lobbying for safer use of this junction for cyclists travelling in all directions for some time now, but it has not yet been sorted out. |
