Hi Caroline, yes we know there are development plans and re-generation for Nine-elms in the offing (one of the strategies used my Hammersmith and Fulham has been to grant planning permission as quickly as possible for all sites that have potential - HPS being one)and we've raised this as a concern for Barn Elms as of course there will be no alternative sites left by 2013 to build on so by default greenspace will be lost. However, Thames Water can submit objections to planning permission in relation to strategic sites for the tunnel, we understand that there are some sites that they may be planning to or already have lodged complaint against. WBC are wholly against the project (they have to respresent the entire borough residents and balance of books to consider and nine elms will bring revenue) plus of course there will again be pressure for private sector investment projects during these economic times & politically, how do you think it would be received if they back one site in the borough over another? |
