This seems to be Wandsworth Council's response to the Consultation regarding Nine Elms: "Of all of the Nine Elms development sites the Tideway proposals are arguably the most straightforward to implement and there is a strong possibility that this site would be the first to see development on site. Development of this site could act as a catalyst for other investment and development while use of this site as a main shaft site would in addition to the practical impact of delaying the development for a number of years, send the opposite message. Rather than highlighting that Nine Elms is a new London district ripe for development it would tend to confirm the existing image of the area as dominated by industrial and utility operations. The use of this site in connection with the Thames Tunnel should be strongly resisted". Google Nine Elms to see more about the 722 Richard Rogers designed flats which are shortly to go for planning permission and, no doubt, will get it. |
