Neil's comments have a point; all of us against the TW proposals were singing from the same hymn sheet, and of course the reasons for our opposition were well known. but to sum it up coherently at a later stage would require a considerable amount of rooting around. Actually some of the explanations given in answer are valuable factually. Independent experts might be a good solution. A completely new scheme that takes in effluent from the Mogden works would benefit our river users far more than this out of date one. As to living next to a sewage containment venting shaft for the stored waste of the millions of office workers, tourists and residents of central London, everyone must be laughing hard and long at us so proud of our property prices retaining their value in recession. Putney on Pong is unlikely to be highly sought after! Quite aside from the devastating loss of the towpath and river to us older people and the loss of the playing fields to schools now desperately short of same. Justine Greenings conclusions to totally start again at the beginning is the only way forward. Why should we settle for a partial solution that does not take into account the sewage from the Mogden works ( and very ripe they are too). |
