Neil, I am not quite sure if you are serious or just having a bit of a laugh. I am one of the 2,000 people who live on the council estate that backs directly onto the Barn Elms playing fields and who has the worry of putting up with this nightmare of an enormous and ugly construction site until 2020. During this time I will retire and and all my hopes of a decent old age will be shattered. Any kids who are now 6-9 years old who hope to sail, row, play football or rugby during their childhood on this site will miss out completely as they will be in their late teens by the time this is finished. We have 80 heavy duty lorries to look forward to daily for the next 10 years along the LRR - they say to Rocks Lane but the Hammersmith Bridge load restrictions will prevent them taking that route. And have you honestly seen Thames Water's "artists impression" of how it will look by 2020. A nasty big ventilation shaft surrounded by lovely "artists impressions" of fluffy green fields - in actuality a stinking ventilation shaft for a 'tunnel' that is not actually a tunnel taking effluent away, but a sewage storage tank which will need ventilating (presumably in case the methane in it blows up) which needs to vent its stink out into the air, ie, just behind our homes - FOR EVER. Get your facts right mate before you start criticising. |
