Cllr McDonnell and others can be reassured that the police are indeed taking action. I have been walking along the URR this last week or so on my way to and from the station. I have seen far more PCSOs and others in uniform then ever before. And one of them stopped a pavement cyclist only this morning. I think the policing of the pavements along the roadworks is actually under control now, even if the errant cyclists are not, at least not yet. By the way, one morning I saw 4 PCSOS and only 2 workmen, but that is another matter entirely! I am a keen cyclist I hasten to add and I dislike the badly behaved ones because they make the task of improving the lot for all cyclists that much more difficult to pursue, given the amount of opprobrium they attract. I would love to see more secure places for cyclists to park, especially near the shops, the station and anywhere else people in general need to go. Just take away the odd parking place and put some cycle stands in its place and Bob's your uncle! |
