Have just walked along URR westwards from the station. Saw several cyclists wheeling their bikes along the pavement (good) and two more cycling along them (bad). Spoke to one and asked him if he realised what he was doing was illegal. Answer: "I'm only cycling slowly". This was just outside the Arab Boy and even when I pointed out he could wheel his bike just a few yeards to the end of the works he kept seated and just hung back till I went up a side road. Quite a few PCSOs around though, so that seems to be keeping things under control. To Jim Maddan - thanks for taking this up with TfL and do please keep up the pressure on TfL to get the roadworks speeded up. The work teams I saw were definitely not working flat out! I have been away until today so this is the first I have seen of all this. The chaos I had heard about in the first few days now seems to have subsided and drivers are clearly avoiding the area altogether. I hate to think how bad the traffic is elsewhere though - traffic is really like water, it just keeps flowing and always finds a way round an obstacle. |
