Ok we seem to have got bogged down with arguments about whether cars should or should not be used or whether people's management of shopping lists could be improved. The original idea of my thread was to whether or not it was fair to ask shoppers to buy at least £15 worth of shopping in order to park. At Waitrose it is £10 minimum and that seems fairer. Those that use their cars for shopping are likely to still use them elsewhere (rightly or wrongly) so I doubt whether this extra "tax" on Sainsburys car users is going to lead to less car use. Also if we applied this thread's arguments solely to disabled shoppers and for example arthritis suffers, (thus perhaps regaining the moral high ground again) the extra tarrif again seems to be disproportionally affecting those that cannot get around as well as others. Especially when one considers that one only has 15 mins to do your shopping for free. Even most able-bodied people might have difficulty with that! |
