Mr Hawkes, you'll be pleased to know that my recent entry to the EU for an interrail trip went smoothly as France can't yet make the EES kiosks work at St Pancras - perhaps they're still waiting for BT to install the telecommunications circuits? It wouldn't be the first time they've held up a project ...

You'll also be please to note that my bank holiday trip to Leicester for science and technology purposes went smoothly, although on Friday the District Line journey from East Putney to St Pancras took about as long as the train from St Pancras to Leicester - signal failure at Wimbledon this time; I wonder if the new Wandsworth Council can get TfL and Network Rail to fix the Thames to Wimbledon signalling section?

Well, so far Brexit doesn't seem to have done much for restricting illegal immigration? I've never advocated no borders controls, and there are checks within the EU - although in Milan the policeman checking train passengers wasn't interested in seeing our passports when he saw were British! And the official checking ID on the ferry returning from Greece to Italy apologised for taking a long time but "because of this Brexit nonsense" he had to check we hadn't overstayed out time in the EU - and we all agreed the UK should rejoin and make his job easier :-)
