I don't even think that that will work. Bigger motor vehicles have registration numbers yet motorists still drive them through red lights, dangerously race the lights changing while overtaking, drive on the wrong side central barriers and down one way streets and very often over the speed limit. At least drivers of much bigger vehicles have by law to learn the Highway Code and to pass tests in order to drive. Somebody on here (Ivonne?) told how elsewhere cyclists had to pass tests before they were allowed to cycle on the road. They might then learn some road rules and some of the dangers before they go on the road. The rules should be also be tightened up for motor scooter cycle riders as well as so many ride around with just "L" plates and there is a suspicion that they share machines. If you look at the article on the front page about Lime bikes you will see that Will Norman is the Walking and Cycling Tsar. Why not drop him a line asking for more information on the rules of the road to be part of a knowledge test for everyone? |
