Whether or not the council's fly-tipping excuse is true, I think it's a rubbish (boom boom) reason to remove bins. Their "trial" is leading to more litter, including dog poo in poo bags, along routes near primary schools. Foxes ripping open bin bags is always going to happen, especially outside apartment blocks where no single occupant is responsible for the bins (top of Dealty Rd a weekly culprit). This is also largely due to the council's policy of refusing to remove bin bags from wheelie bins where it would be protected from scavengers but rather requiring it to be left on the pavement. It's not always good to try new things like removing public litter bins. It's not like fly tippers aren't going to dump if there's no bin to leave their rubbish next to!!! |
